Like many people, have always felt some insecurity about my smile. When my adult teeth came in, they were crooked and I needed braces. No one ever picked on me for having them, but I hated how my smile looked, and couldn’t wait to get them off. I spent a long time smiling with my mouth closed because I didn’t like the look at them. And once my braces journey was over I became an adult, I felt insecure about the color of my teeth. Different shades of white are totally normal and healthy. But I would look at other people smiles and wish that my teeth were whiter.

For starters, the formula they send you a specific to how sensitive your teeth already are, and how much staining you have. Once your whitening kit arrives, you use the materials to make a dental mold. If you’ve had braces before like me, you likely didn’t have a good experience with molds. Using the Smile Brilliant impression putty ended up being a much more pleasant experience. It was actually kind of fun. And luckily for me they include an extra set of putty just in case you mess up your molds! it was really helpful because I felt like I was able to practice and get it right without ruining the whole thing.

Once the molds are set, you send them off to Smile Brilliant’s dental lab in a pre-paid bubble mailer. From there, it’s whitening time! The dental lab will use your molds to make custom fit whitening trays. I got mine back quickly, and was happily surprised with how thin and comfortable they were to wear. I had a tiny lisp when wearing them, but they didn’t interrupt bedtime stories with Eva in the slightest.

I was a little worried tooth sensitivity at first, since my teeth are already somewhat sensitive to cold. They did feel odd after the whitening gel. However, the desensitizing gel feels cool and soothing afterwards. And when I woke up the next morning I didn’t have any increased sensitivity to food or drink! I was also pretty happy because I was able to extend my whitening time the longer I used it.

And I’m so happy with my results. Even after the first week my husband noticed that my smile is brighter. And I’m excited to smile for even more photos. Plus, I love that I will have my custom fit whitening trays forever! Our teeth can accumulate standing overtime. So I love that I can still enjoy the occasional tea. I know that if I need to whiten in the future, all I need to do is order more whitening and desensitizing gel from smile brilliant.
